CONCLUSION of the Russian Scientific Commission on Radiation Protection on materials generalizing the results of works in order to reduce the consequences of the Chernobyl accident

Abstract: According to the analysis and discussion on the presented materials by the Russian Scientific Commission on Radiation Protection, the following decisions were made.
1. To gove a generally reliable assessment of activities conducted by the Ministry of Emergency Situations and the Ministry of Health of Russia with the participation of the Russian Academy of Medical Sciences, the Russian Ministry of Atomic Energy, and the Ministry of Agriculture of Russia and their departments, aimed at overcoming the consequences of the Chernobyl accident.
2. The Russian Scientific Commission on Radiation Protection (RSCRP) believes that the the main conclusions of the Chernobyl Forum (6-7.09.2005, Vienna) provide an objective assessment of the medical, environmental and socio-economic consequences of the accident at the Chernobyl nuclear power plant.
3. In order to meet the requirements of the laws and regulations of the Russian Federation and international recommendations, the Commission considers it appropriate to:

5. The main remote medical-radiological consequences of the accident at the Chernobyl nuclear power plant should be considered:
– Cancer of the thyroid gland. – Leukemia.
