The value of three-dimensional ultrasound scans in the assessment of the size of thyroid gland

Abstract: The actual problem of diagnosis of thyroid cancer is explained by its high prevalence: a significant increase in incidence of overall growth of endocrine diseases is confirmed in the last decade. According to WHO statistics for 2001, on Earth, there are more than 2.2 billion people living in areas of iodine deficiency, with possibility of inducement of goiter, more than one billion people actually suffering from goitre. This problem became more acute in connection with the 1986 accident at the Chernobyl nuclear power plant, after which growth of autoimmune disease goiter and thyroid cancer began to appear.
Purpose of the work – to identify features of three-dimensional reconstruction method of ultrasound imaging in the evaluation of the thyroid gland.
