Abstract: The purpose of this paper is the comprehensive study of thyroid disease and, above all, cancers of the thyroid gland on the basis of the study of surgical material for 20 years after the Chernobyl accident in the Bryansk region under the combined effect of low doses of radiation to the thyroid and iodine deficiency. For the first time the dissertation shows the dynamics of thyroid pathology, in particular, the papillary thyroid cancer in different age groups in the area affected by the Chernobyl disaster, over the twenty-year period. …
