Abstract: The World Health Organization (WHO) and Sasakawa Memorial Health Foundation (SMFH), in cooperation with the Ministry of Health of the Republic of Belarus (the Ministry), have established and promoted a project entitled “Medical Relief for Children Affected by the Chernobyl Accident through the Development and Implementation of Health Telematics” to improve early diagnosis of thyroid diseases and follow-up of patients who have developed thyroid cancer due to exposure to radioactive fallout. The article reviews the development and current status of the project.
